About Us

Our Mission is:

To promote Latin American cultural heritage in Western NY, through educational/ informative events and  entertaining life performances.

Grupo Cultural Latinos En Rochester is a non-profit organization founded in 2013 by a group of creative families in the belief that the arts have an unique power to engage and  maintaining our Children’s Cultural Heritage.

We believe and follow these six principles:

  1. Believe that arts revitalize people and communities.
  2. Dedicates to the preservation of Latino cultural heritage and its continued growth and development.
  3. Understands that everyone is a bearer of folk arts and that it is as important to participate in the arts as it is to observe them.
  4. Encourages communities to share their cultural arts believing that interaction with new audiences enriches the community as much as the audience.
  5. Relies on the diverse communities of Western NY to inspire programs.
  6. Collaborates with these communities to develop public presentations of their culture.

Furthermore, we provide opportunities for the communities in the Rochester NY area to directly experience and understand dance performance’s power to communicate aspects of the human experience, while simultaneously providing children, youth and adults with an opportunity to gain performance experience in professional productions, self development, leadership and as a non-profit organization, it is our mission to inspire the appreciation of dance through artistic excellence and to enrich the cultural landscape of our community. In furtherance of our mission, we are committed to maintaining:

  • Exceptional and diverse performances
  • High quality educational programs
  • Outreach to inspire and enrich the community

About Our History

Grupo Cultural Latinos En Rochester has brought a focus to the diversity and tradition of the Latino communities in Western NY. Working now with recreation centers, towns, and communities through weekly classes and public performances.

Under the artistic direction of Evelyn D’Agostino, Shirley Buittlingmaier, and a family of volunteers, programs are offered to all children, adults, and seniors transcending barriers of language, culture, and physical and cognitive challenges.  Our students learn to work together and develop personal standards of excellence, a pride of achievement, and a curiosity about the Latin American world.

In November 2013 winter, Avenue D R-Center and IADC project HOPE opened the door to GLCER to teach the Educational Series about Latin America, allowing the organization to further its mission and expand its reach, serving as a beacon for children, teachers and artists in the community.

I have seen how the beauty of art and dance bring families and communities together.

About Our Logo

To read the following section in English please hit the “Translate” tab and select the USA flag
