2018 Year Long Program: “Celia Vive”

Cost: Adult, 1 hr Class X 1 Dancer(s) $5.00 USD (early registration reduced price)

These classes are aimed to show and remind the lovers of traditions the significance of folk, art, and culture. The program will end on a stage production where participants will display the greatness of our ethnic backgrounds.

Together we will learn:

  • Basic steps
  • Body language exercises
  • Choreographic Games
  • Dance performance
  • Ethnicity as a fundamental aspect of dance
  • Projection of dancer on stage
  • Training techniques for dancer

2019 Year Long Program: “El Crucero de los Encantos | The Cruiser of Charms”

The program’s main goal is to promote cultural awareness and acceptance of diversity through dance. Come and enjoy a journey to Latin American roots through dance.

Grupo Cultural Latinos En Rochester (GCLER) Under the Artistic Direction of Shirley Bittlingmaier is glad to present its 1st dance event: “EL CRUCERO DE LOS ENCANTOS”, featuring dances from Latin America including the Caribbean, Central & South America. Our expanded repertoire will be presented in a creative and unique performance, sure to enchant the entire family. The vibrancy of the music, the educational historical facts, and the beauty of the costumes will keep your attention till the end of the show. The performance is composed of 2 acts of 45 minutes each and a 15 minute intermission.

The performance will showcase  the Indigenous, African, and Spanish influence in Latin American music and dance. The show  will represent  dances from over 10 different Latin American Countries including Mexico,  Puerto Rico, Dominican Republic, Colombia, Venezuela , Bolivia, Brazil, Peru, Panama, Costa Rica, and will culminate with the arrival to the United States. These dances will transport the audience through their history, scenery, color, pageantry, and into many of the identities and places that make-up these diverse and fascinating cultures.

GLCER is made up of volunteers of ALL AGES; who are passionate about the integration of all cultures and are dancing towards Cultural Unity.
